Nicolás Riera

My name is Nicolás Riera. I'm 22 years old. I was born in Los Andes city, and grow up in Santiago de Chile. I'm an engineering student at Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. My major is Engineering, Design and Innovation and my minor is programming. In this time, as an engineering student I have been teacher assistant for three years.

Week 1

In the first week we met with our class matters, we went to a differents parties where we met more personally and we told each other our own stories (not really but true) and then we went to campus party event where we went to Punta del Este and we visited differents bars and pubs. In this place we listened to innovation talks from people who lives in differents countries and they told us how they innovate in their own projects!. Also we did very interesting workshops.

In this week I learned how to interview and how to design interviews. In the course we learned how to empathize with the user and how to make a conversation where the user tell us their problems and how the feel with them. Also, this weekend I learned how to prepare a "mate" even I bought my own "mate" and thermo. I really love UY (everything unless weather).

Week 2

Week 3

This week we presented our research to the teacher and we exposed our results to them. I started to do my own "mates" and I will show the steps to prepare "mate" like an Uruguayan.First step: you have to put the yerba mate in the "mate" and then add the warm water and let the herb swell up.Second Step: when the yerba mate is swell up you have to put the straw in the "mate" without dropping the yerb mountain. The mountain is a yerba mate that we do not have to wet until the mate loses the flavor.Third Step: put the hot water without dropping the yerba mate mountain (here the yerba mate mountain is one of the most important things).Fourth Step: Enjoy the mate.

Week 4

This week we went to Durazno. A city located in the north of Montevideo. We went and developed a toy for a child of four years old. We met the city and there was the first party with the majority of the project's guys. We had to design, think and prototype a toy and it was the first time that we work under preasure and like a team ( Dream Team <3 ). It was one of the most beautyful experiences in Uruguay (until this moment).

I Love UY

Week 5

This week we had to present three differents ideas for the project. We have to work a lot because the next week is a holydays week in Uruguay so we have to do a lot of work to be relax the next week. Wish us luck!

Week 6

This week I was in Buenos Aires with a friend who know since I was 6 years old. He took me to different places for example: Rosedal, Centro cultural de Recoleta, Puente de la Mujer, Puerto Madero, etc. In Uruguay it was de Tourism week so I decided to travel to BA because it was a city that I have not been.

Week 7

This week we had to present our idea and research to our teachers. After that we had to rethink the idea which we had been working last week. Now i'm with Nair writing this post and waiting to see the last episode of GOT <3 Álvaro #sorrynotsorry.

Week 8

Week 10

This week my parents arrived to Uruguay! We visited many places in Montevideo and Punta del Este. I was a little absent from the group during the week for that reason, but we managed to coordinate everything for the delivery of Monday. Wish us luck!

Everything ends, to say goodbye to the people of the project has been very difficult. I feel that I leave a big part of myself in this country. Say goodbye to my friends of the Dream Team has been hard, I don't lie when I say that I have been crying for two nights. I am convinced that in this team of friends I have found really special people. Each of them is a very important piece of the Dream Team.

I am going to dedicate a few words to each one:
Giorgina Damico: You are a spectacular colider <3 that spark you have, your laughter and above all your sympathy filled me with a lot of energy to be able to do the things well. Thank you.
Alvaro Briano: my best friend from Uruguay! Your joy was an impeccable contribution to the group, what a way to laugh with you and the girls. See you in February guri!
Macarena Vázquez: I loved the way you participated in the group, many times I felt that you were very successful in your comments and vision of things. You are very proactive and it was great to meet you <3
Nair Araújo: you are the happiest girl I know. Your energy and desire to dance never lacked, you are the best dance partner I have ever had <3 <3 was an honor to show how to dance "Plena" being Chilean hahaha I don't know how Chilean I am hahaha sometimes I feel Uruguayan <3

It was a beautiful experience and I know that each of us leave something in the hearts of others. Follow you guys your own paths and never forget that you have a friend in Chile who will visit you from time to time to Uruguay.

Week 9

We have a lot of work to do and short time to do it. What will we do? - Give everything, that's right! We will have a night full of alcohol (lie but true) to work on the project !. I love the atmosphere of this group, I feel we have a beautiful union. I really feel that we are all in the same line. This is really the dream team. Let's go with everything!
